New Moon!

I got to see New Moon at 9:00 on Thursday night! It was so much fun and the movie was soooo good. Sad to say, but I pretty much fell in LOOOOVE with Jacob. I need a t-shirt that says "Team Book-Edward, Team Movie-Jacob" because I really cannot stand Jacob in the books but Taylor Lautner (ohhh my gosh, abs) seriously played him sooo good! If you didn't see the movie yet, GO SEE IT!! It's so much better than Twilight, special affects are amazing, the acting is a lot better, and there was only ONE cheesy part instead of the whole movie being cheesy, like Twilight was:). I went with all my close friends, there was about 10 of us. Oh and did I mention we went to Costa Vida before the movie?! So basically, my night was amazing!;)

Late Halloween Bloggin....

I love Halloween:) This year was fun!! I decided to ditch the haunted house and just keep it low key and hang out with my bff makaily!! We just chilled and did nothing, and it actually turned out to be better than the stress of going to parties.

We went to Goodwill for our costumes to get true 80's clothes. 'Nuff said. Haha. The shirt I bought actually had shoulder pads in it!! We went all out, despite how much Makaily was afraid of the "Goodwill stench" that apparently wouldn't go away in her clothes!! Girl you are hilarious. Haha.:)

Anyway. My hair was probably my favorite part!!! I teased it and teased it and teased it some more. It was massive, and I was in love:)

Good Newwwws!!!! (the witch of the west is dead! jk)

Good news!

I got my permit!!

Not as exciting as a license, but hey. I've been waiting so long for this day to come. Now, if I ever happen to get in an accident while I'm driving with my mom, I won't get in trouble, cuz I'm legal and stuff. :)

I actually turned 15 and 6 months last Sunday the 18th. So my dad took me after school the next day on Monday to get my permit. Well, turned out that the MVD that we went to was closed on Mondays. Seriously. Who is closed on Monday's?! I guess the lame MVD on Greenfield and Baseline is. Pssh.

Anyways.

Still, I was determined to get my permit. So I said, "ok whatevs. We'll just go tomorrow." Well that didn't happen (we're busy around here). So then I ask my grandma to take me on Wednesday because my parents are sooo busy. And of course since she's my sweet little grandma and stuff, she is totally willing. Yay!!

So I skipped school on Wednesday and she took me to get it. Well...turned out I had to have a parent there to sign some stupid paper. Grams couldn't sign it. Dumb.

Distraught, we both went back to her car and then suddenly, I got a brilliant idea! Maybe my dad is somewhere around here and can come sign the dumb paper for me!! The chances were slim, but I was going to try! I called him and low and behold, he was a mile away!! Sweet. So he gets to the MVD and saves the day. Well, kinda.

As we filled out more paperwork, the fire alarm in the MVD went off. I do not lie. So we all had to evacuate. Cool huh? As we helped usher all of the confused, old people out, I was thinking, wow. This really isn't meant to be.

But we only had to wait outside for about ten minutes or so; it wasn't a real fire. Yay.

So we get back inside and I begin my test! The computers weren't working so I had to take it on paper. That was fine, I didn't care...... "Oh crap," I thought. "These questions are hard. Are you kidding me? Why do i need to know that?" Let's just say, those 15 minutes it took me to finish did not go by fast. It was terrible. So I go out there to get it graded. Blah. I knew I was going to fail. Yep, I failed. I missed 11 out of 30. I really hadn't ever done that poorly on a test before. It was tragic. I was so mad at myself.

Don't you hate those moments when the cries start to build up in your chest and you can't keep them in? Well I was definitely having one of those moments. :'( But I cleverly disguised it by laughing and making fun of myself:).

No permit. Too bad.

Well today, I went back to the MVD and guess what. I passed!! This time I only missed 3!! Taking all those online practice tests definitely helped!!

So there is my story. Even though I could have gotten it a week and a half ago, I'm so glad I have it now. :)

The end.

P.S. this is really last minute because the fundraiser ends Friday but...I am selling Gold Canyon Candles for choir. Email/call me if you're interested:)

Middle Names, Old Pictures, and such...

So obviously I changed my header picture. I got rid of the "Life Poofed" theme. Don't get me wrong, I still love big teased hair, but just like french braids and hair-flowers, poofy hair has become something at my school that sort of reminds me of overplayed songs. It could be a totally amazing song but then every station on the radio starts to play it 100 times a day!! With these hair trends, you see them way too much and they kinda get old!! And I'm not kidding when I say I've seen almost every single girl at my school wearing french braids, flowers, and/or poofed hair. But I guess that's okay because I really think flowers and braids are really cute so it's nice to see popular trends be good ones;)
Ok totally off topic!! Haha anyways. I decided to re-name my blog, simply: "The Life and Times of Haylee Bliss" (Bliss obviously being my middle name).

I've never really liked my middle name mainly because I always felt embarrassed having to explain what "bliss" meant to my judgmental, uncultured friends in elementary and middle school who had middle names like "Ann" or "Marie". But now that I have a bigger appreciation for unique names, I'm embracing my middle name, Bliss. I'm even starting to love it!!
Speaking of unique names, my aunt and uncle Natalee and Travis just had their 3rd baby on the 1st of October. His name is Duane Bear MacDonald but he's going to go by Bear!! I love the name they chose because I think it is so cute and it has a cute story behind it. {Nat, I hope you don't mind me sharing!}. When Grammy and Papa were in high school, Papa had the nick name of Bear and recently, Nat found love notes to Grammy from Papa and he always signed his name "Bear". So I just think that is the sweetest thing!!

Here are some pictures of Hannah and me meeting our new cousin:)

What a lover!

Over the past week, I've been off of school and I've had the chance to really reflect on the past and how things have changed. Although change has seemed bad as it is occurring, I've realized that most of the change that's occurred in my life has always been for good- in the long run. And I've also realized that even though it was a lot of fun being a kid and some of those memories cannot re-happen, we still have a lot of fun times to look forward to, just different kinds. But it's still fun to get nostalgic and want to be a little kid again:)

So I found some really old pictures from when I was a little munchkin that make me smile and I edited them a bit (ok maybe a lot:/) on picnik. Most of you have probably already seen them on my Facebook, but I thought I'd post them on here for my bloggity-blog friends also:) Oh ya and...if you were a reader of my blog in the ancient times when i posted about once a year, you will know that I did a post a wayyy long time ago with some of these same pictures. Ha oh well.

Most (actually all) of these are of me and Hannah Banana. Hahaha... Some things never change;)
I love this picture! I'm pretty much positive that Nat took it. I think it's so neat how she was a really good photographer even before fancy cameras and Photoshop.
Me and hannah always matched!!

Me and Hannah. Probably laying on Grammy and Papa's old front lawn. Many memories were had there, for sure:) Red Rover, picnics, red light-green light, etc...:)

Speaking of memories, Sleepovers at Grammy's!! Goodness. I rocked that Barbie sleeping bag. Haha jk.

My love and admiration for my aunts has always been so strong. They were some of my best friends when I was little and they still are! They're both so amazing and strong and I want to be just like them! From babysitting us, spoiling us, and letting us sleepover with them when we were little, to now watching them be wonderful moms to their own kids and being able to babysit for them. I couldn't find a picture with Anney but this one is of Hannah, Nat, and me.

This picture is so cute. I remember always begging Nat to put makeup on us and take pictures. {Nat- you had a cute room!!! Just noticed that. Haha.}

Aww me and Han on the beach all ready to go!

I believe the story behind this picture goes something like this: One night at Sunday dinner, Harrison got ahold of Grammy's diabetes meds. So...basically we all had to go to the hospital that night to get checked out in case the rest of us (me, Hannah, and Tucker) ate them too. Because, you know, back then we all sorta chilled together and did the same stuff. {turns out the three of us were all clean! HA.} I remember the hospital being pretty fun actually. Except for the tar stuff we had to drink that the nurses told us was chocolate milk and getting pricked in the finger for a blood test. Good times.

We were jackrabbit cheerleaders for a day! True story.

The end.

Yeah ummm sorry this post was ultra long, I probably could have divided it into 5 different posts, haha. But I didn't. :]

Choir Nerds Slash Gangstas

Alright I gotta do a little bragging.

So I am in chorale at school. It's the top choir and we are pretty bomb, I'm not gonna lie. If you remember in my last post, I said I couldn't sing. At all. That's mostly true. BUT I'm not going to hide my talents under a bushel, so I'll admit I guess I can kinda sing. That's why I do choir. So yeah.

Wednesday night we had a concert. It was the best one yet!! It was the first time I could actually say after a concert, "Holy crap, we did good." Yeeeaaah dawg. We sang He's Gone Away, Sicut Cervus (a verrrry difficult piece by Palestrina who, if anyone's familiar with him, was a composer before they even had written music. niiice.), and Tres Cantos Nativos dos Indios Krao, which was definitely a crowd favorite;) Look it up on youtube, it is a fun piece.

Then, yesterday, we went to Festival and we scored a ONE!!!!!! A one is the highest ranking you can get, and we qualify for states.
Yethhhhsssss.... {Kip style}.

Here are some random pics from the concert I got from Zeke. Thanks buddy:)

{Brandon, Chelsea, Trevor, Deddrick, me, and... sorry bud. Can't remember your name. Is it Christian? Or something?! :/}

So this picture's really dumb but I just am trying to prove the point that I need to get my hair done. It's been like 7 months since I've gotten it done. And I have gone crazy because of it. I'm getting it done in a week hopefully. The problem is that my hair girl's salon is in down-town Mesa and it takes fureverz to get there. And now that me madre's working and stuff, she hasn't had time to take me!! Oh, the day I turn 16 and can drive myself places! But I mean, look at those foot-long roots and dead ends. GRODY.

Here's all of us. :]

Thanks for everyone who came to see the concert, love you guys!

Wish us luck at states!!

"When people hear good music, it makes them homesick for something they never had, and never will have.”

I seriously love that quote. It is so true!

I am literally obsessed with music> I love listening to music, music notation/theory, playing music, and just basking in its fabulosity. Yep, I just said basking. And fabulosity. Sweet.

Well I recently discovered something that enables music addicts like me. It's called Pandora. It is basically a radio online that only plays songs you like. You put in songs/artists that you love and then it finds other bands/artists similar to it and lets you discover amazing new stuff you would have never found before!! It is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Or facebook, either one.

One time while I was messing around on it, I put in one of my favorite bands, the Format, and then it suggested a few more bands for me that "I might like" and they already happened to be my top favorite bands. Haha pretty funny.

So the point of this post, you ask? Well I thought I would share some of my favorite music with you, or at least music I've been loving lately. And some of them have been songs I've found on Pandora.

WARNING: some of the following videos contain material that is very disturbing. Some content includes cheese-ball slash corn-cob slideshows with randumb pictures and lyrics. Haylee Abney is not responsible for creating these sad videos, they were simply just the best versions of the song she could find. Watch at your own risk and remember: do not completely pay attention to the video, just listen to the song. oookay bye!

Kate Nash- Very Merry Happy

This song is so fun! Don't you just love her accent?! "Dancing at discos eating cheese on toast yeah you make me happy make me very merry happy but you obviously, you didn't want to stick around.." haha luurrve it!!

The Format- Tie the Rope

Like I said before, The Format is probably my favorite band. Too bad they broke up, but hey at least some of the guys went and made another band called Fun. But we won't get into that right now...Anyways. I love them because (one) they aren't signed so their songs aren't over-played and (two) they're from Arizona so that officially makes them legit. Other songs to check out from them: On Your Porch, First Single, and Tune Out. {let's tune out by turnin on the radio-oh-oh...} :)

Regina Spektor- On the Radio {no pun intended from the line before this. haha}

Regina Spektor is my favorite. Her songs are amazing, all filled with brilliant piano parts and she has such a unique, cool voice. This song is cute, video's cute, and little black children are also really, really cute...if anyone knows what I mean;)

Regina Spektor- Samson

Another one of my favorites from Regina. This is one shows her softer side and shows her amazing writing style! If I ever write music, (which I really want to start doing) I would want to make them in this sort of style!! I love playing this one on the piano, too bad I can't sing:( haha. Also, I would prefer the studio recording of this song because it's a little faster but I couldn't find that version on good old Youtube so just sorta pretend in your head that it's moving more quickly! More great ones to look from Regina Spektor- Musicbox, Laughing With, Fidelity, and Eet. Check 'em:]

Vampire Weekend- A Punk

Ahaha didn't you just love that?! This song makes me smile:). Believe it or not, my dad actually introduced me to this band. I pretty much love them!! Can you understand what they're saying?? Good, because neither can I!!

Mae- We're So Far Away

Wow that video was pretty Emo and disturbing I'm not gonna lie!! Haha but seriously, you cannot deny that this song is amazing!! Obviously, I like songs with piano in them. And this song definitely has amazing piano:) It's the funnest song to play. It totally just builds to the end and there's so much power when that last chord hits. GAAHH!!! Wow I pretty much sound like an idiot right now...okayyy.. But fortunately, in the piano version, there is not a random electric guitar chord that ruins the ending. So that is good, for sure.

Jack's Mannequin- Swim

This song gives me fuzzies inside!! Ahhh look I'm turning into a cheeseball but seriously, I love this song!! SO inspiring!! "You gotta swim. Swim for you life. Swim for the music that saves you when you're not so sure you'll survive." Uggh for me, that line is one of those things where you think, "Dang I wish I came up with that." Haha. Other good songs from them: The Resolution and Dark Blue.

So everyone. There you have it.

But you guys!!! I need you to do me a favor!! If you read this post and listened to the songs, please tell me which ones out of my list are your favorite!! Mmmkay??:)

And also, let me know if you tried out Pandora and loved it as much as I do!!

New Obsession...Uh-Oh...

It is a lovely Saturday afternoon. It rained all morning and the sun is finally out {actually I wish it would rain forever and ever..but oh well}.

I could be blogging about other important things right now like the Queen Creek vs Higley game or Papa and Grandma's wedding. But what am I really blogging about?!

Don't think too hard.

Well... all day I have been editing pictures on Picnik {aka my new fav. website!}

All day.

I am obsessed. I just cannot stop!! Don't get me wrong, I pretty much suck at it, but it's still so fun! I've always admired people who can take amazing pictures with their amazing cameras because I am definitely not one of those people!! Editing pictures is pretty easy even if you are not good at it, like me!! And picnik.com is free and it's so easy I could even figure it out, that is saying something, fo sho!! Wanna see some that I've done today?! Aww..I knew you did:)

{Ashley and me after we got rained out at the Higley game. Details to come...}

{Random. I don't know...tehehe}

{My choir in St. Paul's Cathedral in NYC. April 2009.}

{Yes, I know. Laying on the dirty forest ground at Camp Lo Mia and getting high off of your own laughter is living life to the fullest, for sure.}

{No, my eyes aren't that blue in real life. Too bad.}

{I love you Brin :] you're my favorite.}

The end.

I know they're not great, don't hate. {HEY! I'm a poet and I didn't know it!! ha..um ya..NO.} Maybe someday I will upgrade to Photoshop or something fancy but for now, I'm sticking to Picnik because my slow/retarded brain doesn't do well trying to figure stuff out like Photoshop. hahaha...

Still to Come:
  • QCHS vs. Higley game

  • Papa and Grandma Judy's wedding

  • and I may or may not do another tutorial on how to curl your hair with a straightener...who knows:)
Stay Tuned Folks!!!
